Mayor Eugene williams
Mayor Gene Williams is currently in his third term as Mayor of Lynwood. Gene was a village trustee for ten years prior to becoming mayor. He also served on the Lynwood Community Relations Committee the Fire & Police Commission. Presently, he serves the Illinois Municipal League as the Sergeant at Arms, and a member of the CMAP Council of Mayors.
Williams is a journeyman sheet metal mechanic and a former schoolteacher. He taught Sheet Metal Trade at Chicago Vocational High School and for the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 73 Apprenticeship Program at Washburne Trade School.
Gene is a past present of the South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association (SSMMA) where he still serves on the Legislative Committee, the Transportation Committee, and the Little Calumet Watershed Planning Council. He also served on the Cook County Sustainability Advisory Council and the Cook County Land Bank Advisory Committee.
